The Dollhousewarming

On Sunday, the 21st of March 2021, Little R and Nambiar inaugurated the newly constructed dollhouse with an intimate ‘Dollhousewarming’. Miniature-themed invitations, designed by Nambiar, were sent out to friends, colleagues and collaborators of the project, many of whom pulled out magnifying glasses of their own to read their tiny invitations and share them on Instagram.

The ‘dollhousewarming’ was hosted in Nambiar’s own backyard, entertaining her neighbours for brunch and friends and colleagues for tea. Guests were welcomed with tiny platters of miniature food put together by Ben Samson, one of Nambiar’s culinarily-gifted friends. The platters were made up of tiny mimosas, quail eggs, mini chiffon cakes, mini croissants and tuna-&-oyster canapés created specially for the occasion.

Guests got guided tours of the dollhouse, peeking into its windows, checking out Little R’s mini art collection and flipping through tiny books from her library. Several guests even brought tiny housewarming gifts for her! Read Little R’s blog post about all the gifts she received for her new home.

At the end of the evening, Nambiar saw her guests off with mini party favours containing miniature sweet boxes – a fairly standard giveaway at a South Indian housewarming – providing a somewhat traditional end to an otherwise unconventional housewarming.
